Kavala

Coastal prefecture that borders on the prefecture Drama in north-western the prefecture Xanthi north-easternly and the prefecture Serres westwards, southernly is wetted by Aegean. In the prefecture dominate three big mountainous volumes: Pangee in the Western department, in the limits with the prefecture Serres,mountain Lekani in the north-eastern department, in the limits with the prefectures Dramas and Xanthi and the mountain Symbol in the south-western department, opposite and in step with Pangee.

Between these mountains or in their limits take shape the flat extents of prefecture. Most important aquatic current of prefecture are the river Nestos,which flows in the limits of prefecture with the prefecture Xanthi and irrigates the plain of Chrysoypolis.
