Pieria is one from the fifty prefectures of Greece. It is found in the southern department of Macedonia (Central Macedonia). Katerini is the capital of prefectures. The name Pieria emanates from the ancient race and the ancient country of Pieridos. In Pieria, exist a lot of localities of archaeological interest, as Dion, Pydna and Platamonas. Pieria is also homeland of Orpheus and Mouses. Olympus, the taller mountain of Greece and capital of Greek gods, are raised in the southern part of Pieria.
