Xanthi is one of the prefectures of Greece. It is within the East Macedonia and Thrace periphery. Xanthi has no or only one province. The capital of the prefecture is also called Xanthi. Xanthi is the smallest prefecture in area and population in all of Thrace and is the westernmost.Of special interest in the Xanthi prefecture are the Byzantine castle around the old town of Xanthi and the subterranean Macedonian tombs in Komnina from the 2nd century BC.

The prefecture Rhodope is onefrom the 51 prefectures of Greece and belongs in the region of  Thrace. The prefecture Rhodope belongs geographically in the Thrace. At north borders on Bulgaria, in eastern is found the prefecture Xanthi, westwards the prefecture Ebros and in the southerners is wetted by Thrakiko sea. In north the prefecture is found the Eastern part of mountain range of Rodopi in which it owes his name. Capital of prefecture is Komotini.

The Evros prefecture is the northernmost department of Greece.Evros prefecture is characterized by the river Ebros, the bigger river of Balkans that has length 230 km which ends to the Deltaof Ebros. The delta of Ebros, one from more considerably Europe, has been recognized as international wetland (Convention of Ramsar, 1971). It constitutes protected region (Directive 79/409/ EU and Convention of Barcelona 1977) and shelter of preys, where live or overwinter many seldom or threatened species.
